Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Vox Americanus (the "Service"), operated by Lessin Tech Co ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. We may update this Policy at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice; the current version always governs.

1. What Vox Americanus is

Vox Americanus is a real-name forum for verified Americans. Because real-name accountability is the point of the Service, your legal name and state are public. Do not use the Service if you are unwilling to post under your real, verified identity.

2. Identity verification — we do not retain your ID credentials

Identity verification is performed by a third-party provider, Stripe Identity. You submit your US driver's license and a selfie directly to that provider. We never receive or store your license image or your license number. From the verification result we retain only:

your legal name and state (your public identity on the Service);
your city, date of birth, and document type (kept private, used for eligibility and age checks); and
a one-way cryptographic hash of your license number — which cannot be reversed back into the number — used solely to ensure one account per person.

The underlying verification data (including your license image and number) is held by Stripe under its own controls and policies. Your verification is also governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

3. Information we collect

Account information: email address(es) and a hashed password.
Identity information: as described in Section 2.
Content: posts, comments, reactions, endorsements, messages, and any media (including recorded video, extracted audio, thumbnails, and transcripts).
Usage and device data: log data, IP address, and similar technical information generated as you use the Service.

4. How we use information

We use information to operate, maintain, secure, personalize, promote, and improve the Service; to verify eligibility and enforce one-account-per-person; to deliver notifications and messages; to moderate content and prevent abuse; and for any other purpose consistent with this Policy. We may use and analyze information in any lawful manner we consider appropriate to run the Service.

5. How information is shared

Your legal name, state, profile, and content are public by design. We share information with service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, identity verification, email delivery, hosting, and media storage), and we may disclose information where we believe it is appropriate to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the Service, our members, or us. We may transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

6. Messages between members

When you message another member, the message is delivered to their email and includes your email address so they can reply directly. Recipients can disable inbound messages in their settings.

7. Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from your settings. Deletion removes your profile, posts, comments, reactions, endorsements, follows, additional emails, messages, recordings and media, and the one-way hash tied to your identity. Some information may persist in backups, logs, or with third-party providers (such as Stripe) for a period of time, and we may retain limited records where required by law or to protect the Service.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may modify this Policy at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
