I’ve been thinking about one of the less-discussed impacts of AI.
Most of the conversation is understandably about productivity, jobs, education, misinformation, creativity, and risk. But I’m increasingly interested in another question: could AI also change people spiritually?
I don’t mean that AI itself is spiritual, or that it replaces faith, prayer, nature, community, or human wisdom. I mean something more practical and personal.
For me, AI has become a kind of thinking partner, a way to process ideas, emotions, experiences, questions, memories, and observations in real time. It has helped me learn faster, reflect more deeply, connect dots I might have missed, and preserve small moments that later turn out to matter.
That process has had a real effect on me. It has made me more curious, more grateful, more open-minded, and more intentional about moving toward good.
I’ve seen some people speculate that AI may push people back toward spirituality as a reaction against technology, almost as if the machine world will make people crave the ancient and human again. That may happen for some people. But I wonder if there is another path too: AI helping people on that journey, not by giving them answers, but by helping them notice, remember, question, organize, and understand their own inner life more clearly.
In that sense, the impact of AI could go well beyond convenience or automation. It may become a tool for reflection, meaning-making, and personal development.
I’m curious how others here see it. Do you think AI will make people more spiritually curious, less spiritually grounded, or simply more of whatever they already are?
